What exactly is the REPS Scheme?

The Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) is a South Australian Government energy efficiency scheme that provides incentives for SA households and businesses to save energy and money.

It does this through establishing energy productivity targets to be met by electricity and gas retailers.

The REPS is designed to reduce peak demand energy consumption and create a more flexible and dynamic energy market for South Australian residents. It does this by creating incentives for energy consumers to make the switch to solar and battery systems, and participating in Virtual Power Plants for example.

Virtual Power Plants (VPP) are intricate networks of small-scale energy-producing and storage devices, like solar panels and batteries, interconnected to support the electricity grid by sharing energy during peak demand or storing it for future use, all while compensating owners.

How it works

Simply visit the REPS VPP portal to: 

• Check to see if you’re eligible.
• Complete and submit the four step online application

Then, to make sure your application meets all the REPS requirements they will review your application, and when/if
successful, you will receive approval confirmation. Payment is made to the customer via bank transfer. Please note that this can take up to 60 days following the approval. 

All the installation documents you’ll need for the application will be attached to your VPP welcome email. Once you receive this we recommend submitting your application as soon as possible. Please ensure that your REPS application is submitted in the same calendar year as your solar installation to avoid missing out.
