Empowering communities

ShineHub gives everyday people the power to go solar, slash their cost of living, and improve their quality of life.

But we know that there is more to be done. That’s why we work with a range of community programs and organisations to ensure that our whole community is moving in the right direction.

Giving back

We love working with local community groups who need our help. We believe in empowering everyday Aussies to live the life they deserve, even if they don’t own a home or can’t get the benefits of solar themselves.

Food Bank & ShineHub

Foodbank SA helps to feed more than 115,000 people across the state get access to low cost meals every month. We contributed a new 11.83kW solar system to Foodbank. This will enable them to provide an extra 320,000 meals for South Australians in need.

Social responsibility is at the core of ShineHub’s ethos. Our mission doesn’t end with replacing big energy with community solar – it’s about building strong and sustainable communities from the ground up.

Samaritan House Geelong & ShineHub

ShineHub believes everyone should have access to solar, which is why we run Community Solar Programs.

Thanks to the Geelong Community Solar Program in 2018, 211 additional households across Geelong are now enjoying the solar lifestyle and all the benefits that entails. We’ve even been able to build a virtual power plant in Victoria. On average, the quarterly bill for households in this program has dropped to $270 compared with $1,452 during the same period last year – a staggering saving of $1,180!

Rabbitohs & ShineHub

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are extremely active in their community – and we’re proud to say we’ve joined the team.

And don’t think we’ll just be barracking from the sidelines. We’ll be rolling up our sleeves and working with the Rabbitohs’ youth group to help support the local community. The Rabbitohs want to make a real difference and so does ShineHub.

Community at the core

Community is at the core of our mission. We want to take power from the power companies and place it in the hands of real people.

The people-powered Virtual Power Plant we envision will be large enough to shake Australia’s energy infrastructure to its core, permanently transforming local communities from passive subjects to real power players. That’s why we called it the Community VPP.
