Mitcham is Leading the Charge
Mitcham once again partnered with ShineHub in 2024 to make affordable solar solutions available to residents looking to power their future with renewable energy.
The response to our bulk buys over the last 3 years has been incredible with over 920+ residents getting solar to power their future and locking in savings on their energy bills. This means we are now collectively offsetting more fossil fuel than ever before with over 4.4 Megawatt of energy added to the VPP, offsetting the equivalent of 4 diesel power plants.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has participated and joined our growing community of renewable energy champions in Mitcham. Together we are making a real difference for our community and leading from the front in Australia’s continued march to decarbonisation and 100% renewables.

In the ongoing quest for sustainability, the Mitcham community has added 4.4MW of renewable power to the VPP, enough to offset the equivalent of 4 fossil fuel power plants, showcasing what a community can achieve when it comes together.
The City of Mitcham is no longer just a city, it’s a beacon of inspiration for the nation. As we have continued to add more chapters to our success story over the past three years, we can now safely say that Mitcham is a renewable energy power house. With over 920 new solar power systems, 2 large scale community batteries, a growing local Virtual Power Plant, and council electric vehicle charging infrastructure installed we are well on the way to transforming the city into a self-sustaining power hub of the future.
