Today, a game-changer was announced. If you want to go solar but don't like the upfront cost – this is for you!

Today, we are thrilled to announce a total game-changer. If you’re a household that would love to get the benefits of solar and batteries but you’re deterred by the upfront costs – this is for you!

This Australian-first scheme will allow you to have a solar and battery system installed on your home. You dont pay a cent for the solar system, you just pay for the electricity it produces at a low fixed rate.

‘Fixed Rate Solar’ is a people-powered solution that will offer instant savings for households right across Australia.

Heres how it works:

  1. A solar panel and battery system is installed at your home.
  2. Solar energy powers your home day and night.
  3. You pay for the solar power at a low fixed rate.
    • If the solar panels don't produce power, you pay nothing.
    • All maintenance, equipment replacement, and insurance is included at no extra charge.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who will be taking care of installations?

ShineHub has partnered with 85 certified solar companies across Australia to deliver the scheme in both metropolitan and regional areas.

All our installers have battery certification and training. This is not legally required in Australia, but demonstrates our commitment to quality. Our installers are in the top 15% of installers in the country, in terms of solar training and certification.

Do the solar systems come with a full warranty and guarantee?

Yes. We take care of all installation, maintenance, repairs, and cleaning for you so that you don’t have any surprise costs down the track.  This includes replacement of the panels, inverter, or batteries if they stop working at any point.

Do the rates change?
‘Fixed Rate Solar’ rates are set from the start and no matter what electricity prices do, the set price does not change.

Do I have to pay if the system stops working?

No. You only pay for the power that the solar system creates – so if it’s not making power, you don’t pay.  The installation comes with 24/7 monitoring so as soon as an issue occurs, we will be informed and we’ll fix it for you at no cost.  You can also log into that online dashboard yourself to have a look at how things are going at any time.

How long does Fixed Rate Solar plan last?
The agreement is for 10 years, with automatic renewal for 10 years if you decide not to purchase system at the end of the 10 year period. It comes with a full system warranty, all replacement costs covered, and insurance on the entire installation.

Can I purchase the system before the end of the term?

Absolutely!  If you want to purchase the system early you can do so without penalty, and at a fair price.  The price is simply the value of the system when it was installed minus 5% for each year that it’s been on your roof.

What happens if I move?

If you move, you can either transfer the agreement to the new homeowner or buyout the system and include it in the price of your house.  It’s similar to other home improvements like adding a pool or air con – you get the benefit while you live there, and it adds value to your home if you’re looking to sell.

Can I expand my system or upgrade it down the track?

Our Fixed Rate Solar plan makes it easy to expand or upgrade your solar system down the track, for example if you add extra panels or batteries.  Simply let us know what you want to do, and we’ll roll it into your monthly payment without having to go through another application.

How does Fixed Rate Solar plan differ from a personal loan?

With the Fixed Rate Solar plan, you are just paying for the power that the system makes, with everything else taken care of for you.  If the system isn’t working properly, or if anything needs to be replaced, there are no extra costs and your payments are paused until it’s fixed.  With a loan, you make the same repayments no matter what and the responsibility for any repairs or maintenance is on you to sort out as needed.

What products do you use?

We only use top tier products because, at the end of the day, we are responsible to fix anything that breaks, and pay for any replacement parts. One of the benefits of the Fixed Rate Solar plan is that you don’t have to worry about any replacement costs during the life of the term.  And when you own the system at the end, you get to have top shelf equipment!

What do I need in order to apply?

The application is extremely easy– you just need a copy of your electricity bill, government issued Photo ID, and rates notice.  As long as your electricity bill is paid up to date and you own your house you have a very good chance of being approved.

Were building a better future for Australia

Together, we’re going to flip the script in Australia – from the world’s highest power prices to a people-powered solar revolution that saves money, creates local jobs, and protects the future of the planet.
